Ingredients for Preparation of Patty:

Approx 6 patties will be made

  1. Black Eyed Beans (Lobhia) ¼ cup
  2. Chickpeas (Kala Chana) ¼ cup
  3. Green Chilly 1 medium sized chopped
  4. Onions 2 medium sized
  5. Grounded flax seeds ½ tbsp.
  6. Coriander Powder 1 tbsp
  7. Chaat Masala or Spice Mix 1 tsp
  8. Lemon Juice 1 tbsp
  9. Oil 1 tbsp

Burger Assembling Ingredients:

For 1 bun

  1. Burger Bread/Bun 1 piece
  2. Butter 1 tbsp
  3. Pizza Sauce ½ tsp
  4. Mayonnaise 1tbsp
  5. Cucumber Slice 1
  6. Tomato Slice 1
  7. Onion Slice 1

Method:

Preparing the patty

  1. Wash the black eyed beans (lobhia) and chickpeas (kala chana) well and soak in fresh water overnight.
  2. Once they are soaked well, cook the lobia and kala chana using a pressure cooker with 1 cup of water. Cook until the beans are soft.
  3. Now drain the excess water and keep the beans aside.
  4. In a food processor or blender, add boiled lobia and kala chana (together 1 cup). Coarsely grind the mixture.
  5. Add chopped green chili, 2 medium sized onions, ½ tbsp flax seeds, 1 tbsp coriander powder, 1 tsp chaat masala or spice mix. Grind it in the blender again for 1 min. Scrape the sides of the blender jar.
  6. Collect the mixture in a large bowl. Add 1 tbsp lemon juice to it.
  7. Use your clean hand mix everything well, mix it together to make a soft dough. Check the salt and spice levels and adjust to suit your taste.
  8. Make round patties of this mixture as same as the size of buns and keep aside.
  9. Now grease pan using 1 tbsp oil. Place the patties/tikkis over a pan and apply some oil on top as well.
  10. When the base is lightly browned, flip the patties.
  11. Flip a couple of times more till the patties are pan-fried evenly and the crust becomes golden and crispy. Fry them on low flame.

Making Burger

  1. Cut the burger buns/ bread horizontally into two halves.
  2. Toast the buns from both sides with butter.
  3. Spread ½ tsp pizza sauce on base side of bun.
  4. Spread 1 tbsp mayonnaise on another half of bun.
  5. Place the patty on pizza sauce.
  6. Top up with a cucumber slice, tomato slice, and onion slice.
  7. Place the mayonnaise bun on top and press slightly.
  8. Lobhia kala chana tikki burger is ready.
