Sabudana Khichdi Recipe – Vrat ka khana Special

Today we are making Sabudana Khichdi for navratri vrat or may be as any vrat recipe in India.

Ingredients for Sabudana Khichdi:

  1. Sabudana 1 cup
  2. Oil 2tbsp
  3. Cumin seeds (jeera) 1tsp
  4. Curry leaves 5-6
  5. Green chili 1 medium size
  6. Ginger (grated) 1 tbsp
  7. Peanuts 1/2 cup
  8. Potato strips 1 cup
  9. Sendha Namak 2 Tsp
  10. Coriander Powder (dhaniya) 1/2 tbsp
  11. Water 1/4 cup
  12. Lemon Juice 1 tbsp
  13. Coconut shreds 2 tbsp

Method for making sabudana khichdi: 

How to soak sabudana

  1. Soak 1 cup sabudana in 2 cups of water.
  2. Soak at least for 3-4 hrs or overnight.
  3. Drain excess water and wash again in fresh water.
  4. Dry sabudana on cotton towel preferably under a fan for at least 2-3 hrs or till sabudana gets completely dry.

Sabudana Khichdi Recipe

  1. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a kadai. Add 1 tsp jeera, 5-6 curry leaves, 1 green chili, 1 tbsp grated ginger. Fry it for 1 min on medium flame.
  2. Add ½ cup peanuts. Roast the peanuts.
  3. Add 1 cup Potato strips. Add 1 tsp sendha namak, ½ tbsp coriander powder. Mix them well.
  4. Add ¼ cup water and cover the lid. Cook for 5 min or till the potatoes get to cook. Cook on low flame.
  5. Now add 1 cup sabudana, 1 tsp sendha namak. Mix well. Add 1 tbsp lemon juice and 2 tbsp coconut shreds (optional). Adjust the spice level according to your taste.
  6. Serve hot with tea.
